Compliment my brain, not my body

EIC July 4, 2016

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n her article entitled, “Why I’m not ‘pretty for a black girl,’” Edna Batengas urged others to avoid mentioning one’s race when giving a compliment. She briefly mentioned that she would much rather receive a compliment on something that isn’t based on her appearance at all. I agree with her entirely. I would rather be complimented for who I am rather than what I am. In fact, I hate to be cliché, but it really is the inside that counts. In our day and age though, it seems that this has been forgotten. Simply take a look at the comments…

Sorry, trigger warnings do not hinder free speech

EIC April 4, 2016

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]yler Knoll’s article entitled, “Trigger warnings are not an excuse to censor free speech” could not have gotten it more wrong. Trigger warnings don’t censor or stifle free speech. They’re simply warnings — like online pieces of courtesy to the…

EIC June 13, 2015

First of all, and perhaps most importantly, I want to congratulate the author of The Peak's article "Why Can't We Eat Like Europeans?," published June 1, with her weight loss and newfound awareness of her diet and lifestyle. But I feel…
