What Grinds Our Gears: Courses meant for online learning shouldn’t be as disorganized as the newly adapted ones

Opinions November 3, 2020

by Paige Riding, Humour Editor Distance education courses — not to be confused with the shitshow in-person classes now taught online — are intended to be delivered remotely. Lessons and resources appear on Canvas for the student’s convenience. In theory,…

EIC September 13, 2020

What Grinds Our Gears: I need more respect from my intrusive family

Opinions July 12, 2020

By: Alex Masse, SFU Student I have a very specific study ritual, one that works with my painfully neurodivergent brain: I move all my distractions, set up my phone to play 30 minutes of rain noises, and essentially hyperfocus. It’s been…

By: Nicole Magas, Opinions Editor Unprecedented times call for unprecedented media consumption. News articles, blogs, opinions pieces, factoids — like the borderline manic hypochondriac my mother always knew I’d grow up to be, I’m reading all of it. Or, at…

What Grinds Our Gears: I’m haunted by group project members ghosting in the chat

Opinions March 7, 2020

By: Juztin Bello, Copy Editor It’s the first day of class and you’ve been forced into groups for a semester-long project — great start. You do the classic “none of us want to do this, so we’ll find solidarity in our…
