July 18, 2018 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Open forum and dialogue to raise awareness and recognition of the International Decade for People of African Descent.

The African Students Association, The Students of Caribbean and African Ancestry, the Voice of Ituri and the African Descent Society BC:

INVITE ALL TO COME OUT TO THE FORUM ON THE INTERNATIONAL DECADE FOR PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT

The Panel includes Hon Justice Donald Mcleod of the Ontario High Court, Dr. June Francis, Dahaboo Mohamed, Baba Luku, Julialynne Walker, Emmanuel Jal, Eddy Kenzo among others to discuss what the International Decade of African Descent means to Canada.

This will be held at 500 Granville Street at the Segal Graduate School of Business Room 1200. This is an important conversation as we explore what it means for Canada to recognize the UN International Decade for People of African Descent. As highlighted by PM Justin Trudeau, it is important that public institutions take the requisite steps to recognize and to acknowledge the contributions to Canada and the specific needs of people of African Descent providing a framework for recognition, justice, development to fight racism, discrimination and the ongoing inequalities that Canadians of African Descent face. In recognizing the Decade, the government commits to a better future for Black Canadians. How do public institutions of the government act in support of this declaration?
