sfu-aq-pond Some students who arrived at SFU’s Burnaby campus were alarmed last week to find the iconic koi pond drained of water and devoid of its fishy friends. The koi pond is a landmark of SFU Burnaby, and is the site of the Engineering Undergraduate Student Society’s annual polar plunge as well as other SFU events. Students can rest easy, however, as the draining and cleaning of the AQ Reflecting Pond is an annual service performed by facilities services in preparation for spring convocation. Wendy House, office coordinator for facilities services, reassured The Peak, saying, “We coordinate the removal and safe keeping of the fish with personnel from Alcan – Animal Care. The fish are returned to the pond once refilling is complete and water testing ensures a suitable environment.”
