Holidays are a time for festivities and spending time with the ones you love. As Christmas is just around the corner, this playlist will include original songs that simply sleigh and are tree-mendously good covers of popular Christmas carols.

“Another Year” by FINNEAS

Versatile artists like FINNEAS can do anything from belting out a verse in a song inspired by American politics (“Where the Poison Is”) to writing and producing a Christmas song such as this one. “Another Year” is a beautiful piano ballad that’s melancholic and lovey-dovey to the right degree. With lyrics such as “Don’t waste a dime on me, just want your company,” FINNEAS pictures the image of Christmas perfectly with just his voice and a piano.

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Phoebe Bridgers

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” is a popular carol I’m sure everybody has heard. However, this particular version is one of my favourites. Bridgers’ soft and pretty voice is a perfect match for a song that’s supposed to have a lullaby-like tune. The original version of this song was made for a Judy Garland movie, but Bridgers puts her own spin on this Christmas classic.

“Last Christmas” by Samantha Harvey

Known for her Ed Sheeran covers on YouTube, Harvey covers many popular songs including “Last Christmas.” Her take on this is very creative because she brings a sadder feeling to a song that’s known for being jolly, regardless of its lyrics. Many more popular versions of “Last Christmas” have a happier vibe because of the artist’s choice of production, but Harvey’s take is more downhearted with just her voice and an acoustic style piano backing track.

“All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Allie Sherlock

Allie Sherlock has multiple viral videos of her busking on the streets of Europe with her guitar. She is popular on YouTube for her immense talent and covers many popular songs. This version of “All I Want For Christmas” is interesting because it showcases Sherlock’s incredible range with minimal production effects. It’s a must-listen because Sherlock changes a Mariah Carey original into her own.
